Reasons to stop using family planning methods
In the Arab world, stopping the use of contraceptives is attributed to several reasons, including the inherent health risks, fears of the failure of the method, pressure from the husband’s family, or the husband’s desire to have more children (preferably boys), lack of information and detailed advice about the methods, and the inability to choose an appropriate contraceptive method 19. In Jordan, the most common reason for stopping the use of the contraceptive method is the desire to become pregnant, followed by the inappropriateness of the method.
There are also other reasons, such as the inadequacy and low quality of services and information provided in the field of family planning, and opposition to the use of family planning methods for religious reasons (confusing birth control and planning).
